Verwood Concert Brass were thrilled with a victory in their first contest of 2015 at the Oxfordshire & District BBA Winter Contest.
They were up against some worthy competition from other areas: Milton Keynes Brass (Bucks), Epsom & Ewell Silver Band (Surrey), Oddfellows Brass (Markfield, Leicestershire) and Brunel Brass (Swindon, Wiltshire).
All of the bands chose to play the forthcoming regional finals test piece 'London Overture' so it was all down to performance rather than choice of piece having an influence.
The adjudicator was the well renowned Frank Renton and it was a great confidence builder for the band having him award them first place. (They thoroughly deserved it too!)
Well done VCB. Torquay here we come.
